Landing Craft ASSAULT - SET DESIGN/PROPS
I worked with Aztec Model makers on the remake of a LCA Landing Craft Assault ship that was used extensively in World War II including for the Normandy Landings of June 1944.
As there were no longer any in existense we have been contracted to dig through documentation and historical references to re-design and produce an adapted version that could be shipped to the shooting set of a series that can’t be told yet as it is yet to be released.
The main challenge here was to adapt ourself to the methodology & manufacture of a boat that actually floats and supports a team of actors & filming staff + gear.
We have worked alongside a naval architecte to calculate the buoyancy and approve our design. We also refered our CAD work & technics on some hand drafter original technical drawings.
Materials included marine ply, Grp and plethora of waterprrofing methods.
