AIRCRAFT WHEEL AND BRAKE CHANGER

The Semmco Wheel and Brake Changer has been developed for the safe removal and replacement of a range of aircraft wheels and brake packs.

The unit can handle varying diameters from 39" (990 mm) to 56" (1420 mm) along with their associated brake packs.

The adjustable roller positions allow ease of selection for wheel or brake units.

The design includes a pin index system for positioning the rollers to the required pitch of the wheels being removed. Raising and lowering is carried out by a simple and effective hydraulic pump.

My role in this project was to re-think and improve the overall design, simplify the production and reduce the production cost to impact the selling price.

The main chassis is composed of folded laser cut profiles and sheetmetals components. Each components include locators and cut-outs to help the welder and increase the production efficiency.

The H frame is also made of laser cut profiles with locators to facilitate the welding.

The Nylon rollers are smoothly adjusted on a strong machine axle.
