OVERWING ACCESS

The BA Overwing Access equipment allows to servicing of the escape door on some of the biggest aricraft including A380 / B747 and B777.

This access equipment has been stress analysed by FEA and physically tested and complies to the standards and regulations despite the way the platform overhangs by 8m.

The top aluminium structure is braced to limit the deflection.

The stress analysis showed that some lateral gussets were

needed to reinforce those profiles.

The end platform is mounted on a lead screw guided mechanism with self locking brake. This allows a high variation of +/- 250mm enabling access to different aircraft doors.

The structure was stress analysed and amended from the original design to prevent the equipment from tipping over and reduce the deflection.

The stair case is fully integrated within the structure.
